In 2008 Pockets posted a video of themselves playing a cover of the song “The Final Countdown” by Europe to their YouTube channel using a custom instrument called the Kazookeylele. The video immediately the blew up with 3 million views in a just few days. Pockets then released their first EP “Tada” in early 2009 on hand burned CD-Rs in photocopied cases via mail order on their website and at shows. Not quite being able to keep up with demand they released the EP on Bandcamp shortly afterwards.

Pockets then appeared on television and was interview by various newspapers, podcasts and radio stations. Appearing on Britain’s Got Talent, Rude Tube, G4TV’s Attack Of The Show and many others.

In 2012 Pockets began writing songs for their first studio album “Pockets and the Narwhal”, an album about love, loss, and sea creatures. The album took 6 years to create; from writing to production. In 2018 they released the album on all music platforms and performed two album launch shows over two days. The first night to a sold out show at Edinburgh’s “Wee Red Bar” and the second night to an online audience livestreamed simultaneously on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook.

In 2019 Pockets announced two further albums in production. A first of which is titled “Pockets and the Rainbow Unicow” and the second is an untitled ukulele comedy rock album. Production began on both of these albums at the same time.

In January 2021 Pockets joined TikTok to release short Kazookeylele based video cover songs. In just 6 months their TikTok page exploded gaining just under a quarter of a million followers and 20 million views. They performed song requests from the comments sections on their videos. The most common request however was to “Make a cover album!” This convinced Pockets to begin production of another album immediately with a time scale of only 3 months to fully record and produce.

“Pockets and the Kazookeylele” contains nine fully recorded and produced versions of some of their most popular TikTok cover songs. Including bass, drums, backing vocals and of course kazookeylele. No song is safe!
